Power steering pump

Ok yesterday started the car after leaving a store. I heard a very funny sound from the engine bay. Like a loud whining sound, also sounded like grinding. Went to the mechanic and the noise stopped, so he couldnt say much. I have noticed the steering being lil tough. So i went to work and we look at the power steering fluid, it was very low. Sound went away a bit. But i still hear it on start up, not as loud though. U think the pump is bad now? What are the signs

 

Whining like an old Ford when you turn your wheel to park or to leave a parking spot, on startup squealing could mean dry belts.

I just got the belts replaced 2 weeks ago, all three. Imma see what it sounds like in the morin

 

tomorrow morning is always the best time to do things :P

 

maybe the noise is from the new belts?
