Please Help Need Advice

I got a 97 3.2 tl. The check engince light wont go off. I noticed the fan no longer runs when I turn the car off, but makes a whinning sound. I noticed this after I put in new xenon interior lights in the domes. I blew out some fuses when I took out the center dome bulb.

Anyone have an idea as to what I f#cked up? Did I:

(1) Blow out a fuse to the fan or a fuse to something else that would cause the check engine light to come on; or

(2) Is the whinnig sound a bum fan or fan motor; or

(3) I am going to have to pay $300 to find out from a mechanic

Hello oulaw29,

While I'm not sure what the problem is, you can probably do a few pre-checks to diagnose the problem better.

1) Check the fusebox and see if any of the fuses are burnt out. Replace as needed.

2) Some of the bigger chain auto parts store (such as Autozone) will read your check engine light codes for you for free. Take your car there and have them pull your codes.

Hope that helps,
Slagboy

I went to Autozone and the code reader said it was a P0705 or maybe it was P1705, hopefully it will turn out to be related to the emissions system, then they will fix it for free

i went to an acura dealer myself and had them do it, it is an emission problem and will fix all tl's from 96' to 98' for free, i rather have acura do it themselves than autozone or any other car shop.

Went to the dealer Friday for the engine light (always something to do with emissions). Turned out to be the O2 sensor (covered by the recall).
