Parking brake

My parking brake is completely shot and doesn't hold or stop anything.
Is there a way to tighten it if you take out the console? Or is it much more difficult than that?
Sorry if this sounds amateurish but I need the damn thing to work already to do some donuts. Nah, I'm kidding. I just like to feel secure with the brake there for some reason.

Have you checked your rear brakes?

If the rear brakes aren't shot, to adjust it, open up the large cubby in the center console. Pull up the felt bottom, and the black plastic bottom (probably need a screwdriver). Under there there should be a connector witha couple of cables coming out of it, and a couple nuts on top, spin them to adjust (I forget which way).

Thanks,
and my brakes shouldn't be shot because I had them replaced at a mechanic last July and the e-brake was dead before then.
