Oil Change
My 2.5 is ready for an oil change and i decided that i was gonna do it myself. i got the oil(chevron 5w 30) and filter but when i looked at where the oil filter was, i couldn't find the right tool to get at it. i went to kragen to find the socket wrench adapter, but none that they had fit. Where can i get the correct attachment?
yeah the filter is a ***** to take out. i did it once, took me about ONE HOUR to get that thing out. so i was like, "im not doing this again, ill pay to get an oil change." what i used was umm i dont know what ist called but its the tool made to take out oil filters.... (handle with a medal strip bent into a circle) at 1st you dont think i'll fit the filter but if you move that metal strip, it'll fit. you just have to adjust it while inserting the thing on. it gets bigger when you adjust the strip
I've generally been able to just get my hand in and spin off the oil filter no problem. Remember, the oil filter should be tightened by hand and should only, as far as I know, be screwed on until you can't reasonably screw it on anymore. The seals inside expand once the oil gets gowing through it and it tightens up on its own from heat.
I usually try to change the oil filter after a bit of driving (ten-fifteen minutes) so that the engine is warm and not hot. The filter seems to come off easiest in this way.
Anyone had any luck with the K/N oil filter's for our car? I am going to try it with the next oil change. I have generally used either the Honda filters or the Mobil One filters--anyone with any experience?
Later.

U sure about hand tightening it? it seems like the filter could get loose and leak. i saw one tool that u put on the end of a socket wrench that might work, but they didnt have one that fit. in the manual it says u need a special tool from acura. anyone know what i should do?
I used filter pliers to get the filter off in my 3.2 its kinda hard to do but you gotta work with it...and most likely your gunna be changing it at home with a floor jack and jack stands its gunna take a while because you won't be in a easy position to loosen the filter. Your better off taking it to a shop...but you can try if you want. oh and those caps that go on the end of the filter that attach to a socket wrench are no good in this car, works great in other cars though.
