o2 sensor replacement

My check engine light has been on for months, so I decided to take the car into the shop.

The mechanic says that I need a new o2 sensor, and that this will cost approx. $700 due to the labor involved. Can this be a "do it yourself" type project? Can someone point me to more info?

Thanks

What kind of car do you drive? I know that 96-97 model TLs have extended emissions warranties up to 150k miles i think. If you take it to the dealer it should be covered.

Yeah, warranty should cover if you're under 150K

O2

$ 230.00 for the Part.

30 minutes to replace.

$ 700.00 is a rip off.

O2 Sensor...

I got mine done for 230, 210 for the part, 20 bux to my friend...if you have friends who are mechanics and everything....it's a pretty simple thing for them to do...took my friend 25 minutes to change mine. And he's not even that great of a mechanic yet.

Does anyone know if this warranty is valid in Canada?
