Is this normal?

When I'm cruising down the highway with the A/C on i can hear the compressor go on for about 10 seconds then off for 10, on for 10 then off for 10. Is this normal? The air is blowing cold and always constant so no worries there. It gets annoying because it draws power from the engine and I can feel it every 10 seconds, and if the stereo isn't up too loud, i can hear it as well. Any ideas? Possibly low on coolant or something?

If you actually read my post, i said nothing about this. But I guess you feel the need to waste everyones time by complaining in a thread that has a completely different subject. All i was hoping for was a suggestion on what could be the cause of my A/C coming on and off a thousand times on a trip. If you don't know the answer, don't post.

That said i'll find the answer somewhere else.

Oh its cool. But we've had a lot of posts that mention the fans coming on (after the car is stopped/shut off). So we're taking those and doing a stickie thread.

Yours is a legitimate (and to me at least) a new question

So no worries.

If you'd actually read MY post properly, you'd see that I wasn't referring to YOUR post, I was referring to what HQuakers said about him being thankful that you DIDN'T ask about that, I was just saying that the post about that were getting annoying, I wasn't referring directly to your post. There's lots of information in this forum, we all like to help. I apologise if anyone thinks I was wasting anyone's time, but I was simply making a comment to something, that's all.

Ok, all that aside lets get back to the original problem. I read about doing the diagnostic on the a/c control panel. I did that and it came up saying the in-car temperature sensor has a problem. Unfortunately, this doesn't tell me which sensor is bad, the one in the dash or the one up by the left front speaker. The dealership people i talked to said they have NEVER replaced one. Of course this happened on my car Anyway, the frequent on and off of the a/c motor is normal according to the dealership. So hopefully if anyone else that comes along with this question won't have to look further than this board

Best bet would prolly be to get both sensors from a wrecker and try replacing one and the other to see if that helps. I can honestly say I've never noticed mine shutting off and coming on more than any other car I've ever had with air. Shouldn't do it THAT frequently.

Impur:

Check this out:

http://www.partsadventure.com/

They are located in Portland, near the OMSI. I've dealt with them before with GREAT results. They don't BS or play around. Best of all, they carry ONLY Honda/Acura parts.

If you dont find the parts online, give them a call

No worries, I was just makin a suggestion about some of the frequent ones. My original post wasn't meant to be "unconstructive" quite the opposite, I was just trying to save everyone some time. I personally don't get all that bothered by re-posts.

I've called 3 different dealerships who all say its normal. Not so worried about that anymore, just the fact that the diagnostic came up with the bad sensor. I don't use the auto setting that much so it probably doesn't really matter. But thanks for the info
