new paint job?
I have more than a few scratches in my black 97 3.2 and I was wondering if anyone would reccomend getting a $800 paint job from one of the chain places. Do you think that they would use honda paint if i requested it? also, would it be of quality that is worth getting it done? any info would be great.
thanks,
will

personally i would not let any of those type of place touch my car, but its up too you. Some of them do nice jobs but that is pretty hard to find.
i doubt they would use anything close to honda paint and as far as blending i doubt they would be good in that area too
btw sorry if i killed your dream or whatever but thats just my opinion

I agree. I had my accord painted by a professional guy, who owns his shop. Cost me $2100, was well worth it, was phenominal paintjob. I then showed it. Spend at least $1K for decent paintjob. Take it to a pro man!

I recently had my entire car repainted with the exception of the roof. Some kids keyed it at a movie theater last month. Anyway, I went to Royal Coach and they did a phenomenal job. I had to pay a $500 deductible, but it was well worth it. The total bill came to almost $5000. I have a 1998 White Diamond Pearl 3.2TL and they matched the paint perfectly. It's like having a brand new car. Take it from me, don't skimp on this process because you'll have to see it everyday!

i wouldn't get that paint job...i am not saying that it's gonna be bad...but just by the price you can tell that it's not going to be the best paint job...if u are looking for a good paint job it will cost u about $4000....and it can go up to $9000...

You may want to shop around. I know I've seen some pretty nice paint jobs come from some cheapo places. I have a friend who does excellent paint/bodywork and he said that the key is the prep work which the cheap places dont do well. If you can block down the car yourself and don't need much bodywork..or have someone help you with the bodywork you may be good. They usually lay the paint on pretty nice. Then it's just a matter of wet sanding and buffing.
It all comes down to money though and what you expect. It's easy to say "go to someone good", but not alot of people can afford to pay 2-3 grand for a paint job. If you want a top quality show paint job it's going to cost you. If you can do some work yourself and aren't incredibly picky you can do it much cheaper..
