New muffler

I finally forked out the money for a new o.e. style muffler. It was $165, but wow, what a huge difference! It sounds amazing, or should I say, DOESN'T sound. I love it

I also like quiet mufflers unless it's a sports car.

good choice! I also really enjoy the quietness of the stock exhaust system.

That's a good price. I remember replacing my muffler in 2003 or 2004 and I definitely paid at least $100 more.

It was nice, I just broke the old bolts off, and the whole tailpipe just fell off. then the new one bolted right on. It's a Walker quietflowSS.

I knew my exhaust got hot, but I didn't know it got hot enough to tarnish the housing already.
I backed my car up to a bush at work, and after idling for a minute for two, the bush started smoking. Why would it be so hot?

I try to do all my own work. Shops make me uncomfortable, and they charge so much...

Yes. And I did the manifold swap, and the brake master cylinder, basically everything but mounting tires and alignment.

I like them a bit loud. Definitely no fart cannons, but a smooth powerful tone. If I wanted quiet, I'd have a driver.

~Cheers~

How hard was it to do? I'm thinking about doing mine myself instead of paying someone to do it.

How did you get the rusted bolts off? or did you just replace them?

The bolts had been replaced before; they were SAE. But they were still super rusted. I bought some FreezeOff penetrating spray, and sprayed the bolts while they were hot. I don't think it helped, because all three of them just broke when I took them off. I bought some 5/16x2" grade 8 bolts to replace them. The new muffler didn't come with a gasket, and the computers at work didn't list one, so I just matched one from the shelf to the flange on the new muffler. I will post a part number when I find the recipt
