New mod/out of the glovebox

Woot, I can reach my headunit now. It's in there sorta rough, but in the next couple weeks I'll box it up and smooth it out.

Only had to drill 4 small holes (1/8" or so), and hack up a dash kit I didn't need.

Nope, my legs don't hit it, unless I raise the seat, and try to, but other than that, I haven't had a problem.

It's less noticable than having in the dash too actually, to notice it you really have to look into the car and over there.

Have you, or anyone for that matter, tried putting the headunit inside the center console?

I may try it, I want to find a console to hack up though.

There isn't any clearance left/right of the shifter.

It would have to go in the lower cubby portion, possibly with the "floor" of the top one cut out to make more room. The sides don't go straight down, they slop in, so you run out of room about half way down.

That was (one of) my original plan(s) but this was less work, and it is now within my reach, like I wanted.

I might just relocate the faceplace someplace, but am not completely comfortable soldering connectors onto the headunit, we'll see.
