after averaging about 20mpg in city driving, It was good to know my 96 2.5TL still gets 30+MPG for highway driving!

damn, i thought ken with the type II was the only one around here getting 30 mpg. i took a highway trip awhile back, never stopped once, cruise on the entire time, and didn't even average 26 mpg. it's ridiculous.

My secret? Tires. Low rolling resistance Toyos.

What kind do you all use? Aftermarket wheels?

I've stock wheels with BFGoodrich Traction T/As and the best I've managed to get so far is 27mpg - and that was only once. I usually average 25-26mpg on highway.

I get 29 on the highway easy with my 97 2.5TL.

#1 - Proper tire pressure
#2 - Consistent throttle at 70Mph
