Motor swap?

I don't know if anyone on here has done a engine swap on out 1st gens 2.5's, but what I'am trying to say is what way should i go?
I got a 97 2.5TL with about 132K and was thinking about amping the power that this seden doesn't show.
Cloud and should i sawp in the Legend Type II motor or the 3.2TL engine... or should I just port and polish and rebuild the 2.5?
Please input and always thanks

Port and polish the motor you have.

The 3.2 motor is designed to fit in a totally different shaped front end. The two TL models have very little in common in the engine bay.

Yeah, the front end on the 3.2 is actually a little bit larger, to make room for the engine, so doing a 3.2/typeII swap would be way more trouble than it is worth.

For the money, port and polish, or do a custom turbo setup. Someone has done it before, and someone here (Ysidro) is working on planning right now

how much improvement will i notice if i go ahead to port and polish... and also while the motor is apart what stuff as-in engine wise could I add? To make it faster and last longer.

And also I'am going to rebuild the motor either the JDM or the USDM... but my Questaion is if I use our Local Acura Parts (Gaskets, pistons rings, the usually rebuild stuff) to do the swap will i lost that JDM power?

Not worth it in my opinion. You're not gonna get the TL to do 250hp unless you use a turbo, but a Turbo-ed engine that has over 100k miles would die in a very short time. Not to mention your tranny will not hold that kind of power. To answer your question.. polishing the intake and such will give u up to 10hp. As far as changing the internals (cams, piston).. you could swap in forged internals and tune it right to make the engine rev to 8k and then boost it. That would give you a lot of power. However if you didn't know that then you won't know how to do it. It wouldn't be worth it to take it to a mechanic either. You're looking at spending more than the car is worth.

Its only nuts and bolts.Anything is possible with experience and the right tools.

Heck we put Horny 427s in 2000lb jeeps and wheelie 25 feet in 2nd gear.Although our top speed is only 100 mph...heheheh

Anything is possible if you have the money.

But why put a 4 into a TL? Are you just looking at peak HP numbers? There's more to an engine than that.

S2000's F20C engine puts out 240 hp. That's 40 more HP than the 3.2 liter V6. But it would be ridiculous to swap that. The TL wouldn't move.

Yea, but i'm willing to bet Ysidro's motor won't last a week with the kinda of questions he's been asking about turboing cars.

Didn't you say somewhere that this setup would yield roughly 250-270 HP? I'm just curious as to how the torque curve looks like...

~Cheers~

Yeah, its around that range. Two Legend owners have done that swap and put in a 6 speed manual..

Not sure about the torque curves.. but from what I remember, it was really flat with excellent low and mid range power.

Okay
From what i understand
Legend heads on an RL's 3.5 will give approx 25-40 more HP?
The rest of the fuel, intake and exhaust system from my 3.2 will bolt up?
So if i worked the motor a bit (polish port and better intake) may give me even more HP?

Yes.. the RL's 3.5 motor is just a stroked version of ours. The block IS slightly taller, so there might be clearance issues with the hood.. no one with a 3.2 TL has tried this (that I know of) Two Legend owners have with success.

You also have to make your own engine mounts. Everything else should fit with minimal mods.
