I'm sure you could do it by adding a relay but I don't know which wires you need to tap into. Sorry.

No its not for show. Its a factory alarm. It protects the hood, trunk, and all 4 doors, no glass though. It does come with a remote, you're probably just missing it. I didn't have mine either when I bought my car so I just went to the dealer and bought one for $60.00. If you want to hear your alarm go off just lock your doors but keep one window open, wait till the alarm arms (about 15 seconds, you'll notice the LED flashing pattern changes) and reach in and unlock the door. Then when it goes off just put your key in the door and unlock and it will shut off. Its better when you have the remote.

My 97 2.5TL didn't come with a remote for the car, I called the dealer and they said there wasn't one for my car. The 97 has the factory alarm that has a cutoff switch. When the car is ON, the Led on top of the steering column is on, before you turn the car off click the cut off switch and the LED will go out. Lock the doors and stand in front of the car, within 20-25 seconds the parking lights will flash one time to signal it is armed. When you get back into the car, as soon as you open the doors the headlights, taillights, dashlights and radio will start blinking and won't stop until you deactivate the alarm. You will not be able to
start the car and just clicking the cut off switch will not do it. There is a procedure, PM me and I'll tell you.
