metal sound when accelerating

lately everytime i accelerate i hear a metal sound. last year this happened it turned out to be a crack in the exhaust system. any ideas what else could make this sound when accelerating? there's no problem when i don't accelerate.
thanks

From what I remember, I think it is one of the metal plates protecting the exhaust...might be protecting the manifold, but i'm not sure.

I had the same problem, I got under the car and pushed up the heat sheild plate that's on cat converter. The gap between the cat converter and the heatshield plate was narrow,it was not touching , by widening the gap it stopped.

Mr Obvious says.....quit turning the radio up when you are accelerate and back down when you decelerate? Just leave the metal jamming all the time! (j/K)

i put the car on a lift and tapped all the pipes until one area made a jingling sound. the mechanic said there was another pipe inside of the pipe and thats why it was making that rattling sound when accelerating. it was just pipe that was cut out and replaced.
