Manual Trans Conversion
Manual Trans Conversion
I am starting this thread for my aid and intel in doing this conversion..
After scanning most of the parts catalogs online, i find that the rear trans bracket is nearly identical from legend gs to ua tl..
The renderings are not very good though and i need a better breakdown..
The pedal assy looks significantly different from legend to tl also.. However the firewall looks similar when popping the hood, so similar the strut bars and so forth work..
if anyone has any better parts diagrams id be greatly appreciative..
as far as wiring.. I will need to adapt the legend ecu to the tl as well. I know some in here have done so using the auto trans legend ecu.. I would greatly appreciate a pinout of each ecu. Both legend 6 speed and 3.2 tl..
If what im thinking is correct, i can simply use the legend stuff and bolt it right into the tl as if it were a legend.
Laymans terms
legend gs 6 speed trans, tl motor, legend bracket and mounts, legend pedal assy, legend master cyl, make my own hardlines, legend shifter assy., legend shifter cables, legend ecu... thats all for now

Search for the OBDII to OBDI conversion harness from Skunk2. I can't remember who has it in stock, but I'm sure you can find it somewhere. It runs about $130. As for the pedal assembly, are you going to have the dash, motor, etc. out of the car to start drilling?

Skunk 2 makes a conversion harness for a 98 acura tl to a obd1 legend???
Or are you talking one for like an nsx or something?
I really dont see them making this.. but i could be wrong..
obd 2 to obd1 conversion harness's are not the same for 6 cyl cars vs 4 cyl hondas. Just because its obd2 to 1 doesnt mean it will work.
Meaning, if im using something for a 4 cyl car it will not have the injector wiring for the 2 additional injectors let alone the rest of the stuff. If i had a pin out it would help a lot.
I know ken had this done, and im sure if there was a jumper harness made he would have gotten it?
Also one of my close friends owns the jhpusa ecu department by itself. He has jumper harnesses for EVERYTHING and has nothing of this sort..
Perhaps im incorrect, but this is like the only car i can see this being beneficial for. What else would even give a demand for a 6 cyl obd 2 to 1 jumper. Accords, but id assume people do h22a swaps in those instead of the paperweight 3.0.
Then theres an nsx but its vtec and 4 cam so that rules it out as well..
Pedal assy should bolt up to the firewall, and ill have to drill a hole for the master cylinder and move some stuff perhaps.. Even if its gotta be fabricated i can do it either way. its not hard ive messed with alot more involved.
Id assume its no tougher than putting a hydraullic clutch setup in a da integra. I assisted a friend do so.. heres his outcome......

Use a tubing bender and flare tool to make your own hard lines as we did above.
This is on a car that had NOTHING as far as a similar model. with the tl i can use the legend stuff which is at least close or something to go off of. If i have to entirely fabricate it then i guess thats what ill do.. Its not a real big deal.

slow. Im currently manning my graphing calculator trying to figure out what fucking offset to get for my rear wheels..
Its a good thing i took stats and calc in college.. haha
My schedule is looking like
-wheels, tires,tint again
-bodywork, paint
-air ride
-interior
-then transmission..
Still any info i can gather i can research and make sure this will work before i get into it. Also by that time im sure my transmission will go out and it will be time for a new one.. Seeing how it is a routine fix on the turd.
