I wanted to lower my car within the next few months and I was wondering if it is worth the extra $100 to go for Koni Yellows instead of Tokico Illuminas. I also just want to double check and make sure that they will work perfectly fine even though they are designed for the 90-97 Accord. I was going to put Ground Control coilovers on as well. I already know about having to buy slightly different coilovers depending on which shock I choose. Also, are there any camber kits you guys would recommend or do I even need one?

i don't think shocks lower a car, it's more of the spring. shocks are there for comfort..
right?
right?
Well for as much as I want to lower the car I need to replace the shocks as well because the stock shocks aren't meant to support the car at the lower height. Plus since I'm getting coilovers I need adjustable shocks so they can meet the different heights I have the car at.
Well I didn't really say that right. The springs support the car, not the shock. So the coilovers will lower the car but I need new shocks because the stock shocks aren't meant to be used with aftermarket springs or coilovers.

In theory that is correct, assuming your using the setup meant for your car. In this case the cb7/cd7/cd5 struts are being put onto a ua2/3 meaning that the position of the spring seat is naturally lower. Originally Posted by whatwasthat

I gotta ask you what are your intentions when upgrading this suspension?
Personally I'd choose koni yellows over tokico illuminas any day. The yellows are a proven shock used on many cars. But if I was working with the tl, and I didn't care about the ride comfort anymore I'd spend the extra money and get the koni neuspeed kit. The koni's are shortened and revalved and have 5 perches in the rear. They come with neuspeed race springs which are about a 2.25" drop all around( on an accord, so expect the tl to be slammed).
There is something to keep in mind when you get adjustable struts for the TL, our trunks aren't easy access so you would have to strip the trunk and take out the backseat to adjust the dampening.
Well I still want a pretty comfortable ride so I'm not going for racing shocks. I would try to only adjust my shocks twice a year so the hastle would be worth it. Pretty much when I bring my car back to stock for the winter and then back down for the summer.

i say koni yellows
why? cuz i ordered them last week
no but seriously, if you do a search on "shocks", back in 2001 or something, theres a couple threads comparing the tokicos and koni yellows... so it might be something you might want to look into... i believe it was the 4th or 5th page when you hit up the search...
