Cool Intake Resonator Removal

Hey guys I have a 1997 3.2 TL. I would like to know where exactly my intake resonator is, how to remove it, and if upon removal it will make my car sound better. Pictures would be appreciated but if not it's no biggie.

Just remove the box for the intake and take out everything below it. Then reattach the box. It'll improve the sound but is negligible on performance.

the intake resonator is inside the passenger side fender... in order to access this area you will need to remove your front passenger side wheel and the plastic fender lining... after removed you will see the intake resonator box... it is held on with a couple bolts... after you remove those bolts, you can pull the resonator box down to remove... all this will do is remove the bottom half of your whole intake system...

your intake sound should slightly increase since the resonator is not there to dampen the sound, but i dunno how much perf gains you would get... if you add in a K&N drop in filter and a funnel, it may help you...

What I use to do in my accord is i purchased a foil tubing (like the kinds in the back of your washer and dryer but smaller) and have one end pointing out in front of my grill and run it to where the other end was facing directly toward my aftermarket air filter (along with my aftermarket air intake).

this made it sound more louder, my rpm increased when full throttle, and felt a little gain in performance.

The only down side is you risk getting water into your air filter which then may enter your engine but you have ridges in the tube so it kind of catches the water or slows it down.

To pull that stuff out for my intake, I just took off the bumper. Alot easier than the fender liner itself, haha.

5 screws on the top of the bumper under the grill on the hood, 2 fender liner ones on each side at the corners of the bumper, 1 on each tip of the bumper where it connects to the fender, and the rest of those ones that, if have not fallen off, are directly under the bumper.

I removed my resonator on mine with stock airbox. It sounds stock until you get it to 3.5k-4k RPM. I like it, stock is too quiet. I also threw a hose on the end of the airbox that reaches the front of my bumper grill on the very side.

yeah but it is much easier than having to take off the whole bumper... i thing it takes about the same amount of time but less of a pain of having to put the whole bumper back on... but to each their own method...

I can get the bumper off in less than 5 minutes, haha. Doesn't matter, though, since my front fender liner is gone anyhow and my engine bay is paved with asphalt as a result, hehe.

~Cheers~
