I hate you guys!

I hate you guys and here is why;

Last month i purchased a 96 3.2 tl to use as a daily driver/commuter car (got it cheap because it needs engine work). I don't like the look of the stock wheels so i decided to try on a set of 04 tl wheel..hmm..stick out to far. Call local tire dealer, "yup, we got several options" they say. Head down over lunch break to test fit..hmm..stick out to far. say to self, "self, need to do research, check for acura forums"

Google search for "Acura, Forums"
One search result "acurazine.com"

So, as i begin my search to see what wheels will actually fit this vehicle i stumble across the pictures of the modified TLs that some of you own. WOW. I never thought anyone modified these 1G TLs. These cars look nice...ooohhhh....lowering springs...ahhh...shiny wheels....wow...painted side skirts!

Damn you all! I haven't even fixed the engine yet and I already sent the car to the body shop, had the front/rear bumpers repainted and had the sideskirts painted to match cuz thats purdy. Found and offset that would work and ordered some 17" wheels and tires (i know only 17's but i live in CO and wanted it for a daily driver). Found a supplier for the springs and clear lights. Ordered four new struts and have robbed some stereo equipment from my other "project".

I just wanted a daily driver but NO, had to find you guys and see all the things available for a car I didn't think anyone modified! I blame you all! I have caught the desease and then only cure is in minor mods! dang it! dang it! dang it!

Oh yeah, first post, great site, lots of useful information and great pics

Thanks.

Sick in the hed

no pics yet. Gotta take some "before" pics here soon before its too late. Already done with the body shop. Shes at the paintless dent repair shop today. Figured I could get some pics when shes gets back from there THEN i can get the after pics once the tint, springs, wheels and tires are done....soon grasshoppers soon.

Weekend car is a project m3 2dr wanna be thing (I'll post a link to that later, dang gum work blocks "personal storage" sites).

Plus, the 1G still needs the motor replaced (damn head gaskets). Got the replacement sitting in the back of the shop. Slowly getting the engine prepped for install (i.e. timing belt, water pump, major tune etc etc)...

P.S. Don't want to post in the for sale/want to buy section yet (too new) so if any of you that happen to read this have a tan steering wheel ring (in good condition) for sale, please let me know. I don't need the air bag. just the ring. Haven't checked the salvage yards yet just figure if someone has a cheap one to part with I am interested.

Here is the list

I swapped heads, throttle body and ECU from a C32A5 motor (from an Acura Legend) it makes around 240 hp.

Removed the intake resonator box and have a cold air intake

Removed the exhaust resonator

Installed VSA (vehicle stability assist), replaced the 3 channel ABS with 4 channel.

Heated REAR seats (as well as front)

Upgraded the alternator (to 140 amps)

All new leather on the seats

Burled wood on the center console

Kenwood EZ-700SR (AM/FM/CD/MP3/HD radio/Sirius all in one unit)

Nakamichi speakers

2004 RL chrome shiftgate

and probably a few others I'm missing

Yeah well...my kid can beat up your kid! and my WOW toon owns your WOW toon.

Very nice mod list actually. Nice to see some "true" knuckle bloody type mods. I plan on eventually adding chrome to my engine cuz i hears that every piece of chrome adds like 5 hp.

Now, if I were a Forum noob (hypothetically obviously) where could i find pictures of your vehicle?

They're unfortunately gone, I had them hosted on my little brother's website that has since changed hands.

I'll see if I can find the originals on disc at home.

Cool. I used to drive an E36 M3. Yes it was a moneypit.

Nothing major ever broke on it. Just the power locks and windows stopped working. The alarm would go off randomly. Then AC leak under the dash and they couldn't fix it without tearing the interior up. So I had to get a freon recharge every 6 weeks. Radio knob buttons fell off. Good ole German reliability.

It was chipped so it put out the European 270 instead of the US 240. Simple mod if you haven't done it.

Ahhh, e36 owners. So many problems once it hits a certain age, but well worth it imo. Beautiful car to drive, but man is it hard to keep in good shape.

At least you have money to mod you daily car. I'm stll saving up for some small repairs here and there. Just don't go overboard and forget about the engine repairs. Oh, and welcome.

I actually bought this car hoping to be done with modifying cars as well. Turns out there are modifications but are more tastefully done so I jumped on the bandwagon as well.

I had a body kit, basic bolt ons, and an aftermarket catback exhaust on my honda. I wrecked it racing and wanted to get away from it all with a TL. Then I found this forum while I was browsing for car audio. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It's worth it! HAHA And incidently, I am working on a harness adapter to negate the necessity of replacing the entire harness to run the type II ECU. Once I have mine done, I'll probably be able to get them made up for you guys IF anyone else is interested in this mod...Will save a LOT of hassle. Prolly gonna re-build the top end next winter as the oil burning is getting exessive from that one head (bad valve seals on the head I had to purchase....most of you know the story). Was gonna dump the TL, but the paint and interior are far too nice to let it go just yet, gonna porlly pick up either a CLK430 vert or an E39 540 next year, and keep the TL for winter. not a bad winter ride... ;-) I still love it even if it smokes like a chimney some days!!

(P.S. Miss the board, just ahven't had time with my new job and trying to get business going on the side! )
