I get stranded on the road sometimes

So my Tl leaves me stranded for a little while every now and then lol. I believe it may be a common problem and any help given will be appreciated. The car wont crank up or start when i turn the key. The the dashboard will be lit and so will the radio and or anything else but the engine does not even hesitate to crank. I will have to just wait until when the car wants to start and then it will. Anyone know why?

Have you ever had your battery checked out? Take your battery to autozone or pep boys and have a free battery check.

^ Mine was the starter, but it's more common for the keyswitch to be faulty.

~Cheers~

It could be keyswitch. Check blk/yellow wire at distributor or COP for power when keyswitch is ON. If no power, the keyswitch is bad.

It could also be main fuel relay. Listen carefully when you turn keyswitch to ON. You should hear main fuel relay click under the dash and fuel pump whirring softly in fuel tank for 2-3 secs and stop. If no relay or fuel pump sound, the main fuel relay is very likely.

good luck

I just had the same thing happen to me. It was the battery connectors. $10 fix at Sears.

The code read "Pos Crankshaft sensor A misfire or malfunction" and "Pos Crankshaft Sensor 2 misfire or malfunction"

I can feel your problem bro. My sisters civic is doing this alot, still trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with it.

It loses power all of sudden, no matter what you do. won't start for another 2-3 hours(sometimes sits overnight.) It doesn't gives any codes. It cranks so battery is fine, starter is fine. so I fuckin hate when this happens.

Failure of TDC/CKP/CYP sensor can cause no-start. It is a major effort to replace and requires service similar to timing belt replacement to access/replace.

good luck

It might be worth a try to remove upper timing belt cover, spray the sensor w/ engine cleaner and blow dry w/ compressed air. Dirt/oil/grease accumulation can degrade the signal output and cause an error. Not sure the sensor is accessible by removing upper timing cover, but worth checking.

good luck

Tmnhs81: I'm replying to Kev16, and suggest starting your own thread for help. It's difficult to sort out responses for two problems at same time.

Kev16. What TL are we discussing 2.5TL or 3.2TL. They have different ignition systems.

good luck
