How to Modify Factory Security System

I keep wishing how nice it would be if the stock remote lock/unlock made some horn or flasher indication to inform the user. Has anyone come up with a mod to blink the flashers or horn? I think a lotta people would want to know. Maybe a DIY??

Rip it out and get an aftermarket alarm. My car was stolen without any peep coming out of it with the stock one. VERY easy to bypass, let me tell you, and only an idiot trying to steal your car would set it off.

well I'm not sure what ur talking about but mine has the factory anti-theft with immobilizer. I know for a fact not all 1 gen TLs have the anti-theft. Maybe yours didn't have one. Even if a thief disables the horn the immobilizer kicks in. And you can't start the car. From what I know after market alarms don't do a whole lot more different other than the page and a few other functions.

Hey, check out this thread I posted a while back....

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109945

Credit goes to Ysidro

I actually started doing this but I forgot to disconnect my battery before I started fooling around with the wires and blew the fuse for my windshield wipers, which I didn't realize until later that day when I was caught in a sudden downpour while driving on the parkway. Yea I was pissed.

After that, I didn't really want to risk screwing up the electrical system on my car so I just said forget it.... but this has been annoying me lately so when I get some free time, I'm going to try again. And if it all works out, I might even write up a DIY!!!! :gheywave:

If anyone else wants to try it, let us know what happens.... good luck!!

I wish you were here so I could show you how easy it is to bypass the stock alarm. Mine is a 3.2 Premium with ALL the added options from the dealer, an yes, mine had the factory immobiliser. No need to disable any horn, no need to pop the hood, even.

~Cheers~

P.S. All 1Gs had factory anti-theft/keyless entry. We're not talking Civics, here.

If someone hits the door unlock switch whilst the system is armed (either sitting inside your car, through an open window, or using a hanger), it goes off.
Someone sitting inside pushes the little tab to "unlocked" and it'll go off.
Someone (presumably you) sitting in the driver's seat (or anywhere) trying to start the car with the system armed, it goes off.

Horn starts beeping, lights (including headlights) flash.

~Cheers~
