Honda Inspire UA-2 25S
Does anybody know more about this model?? (Inspire UA-2 25S)
From what I know and the research I've done online:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Japan had 3 versions of the 2.5 Inspire models:
25XG, 25S, & 25G
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the 25XG & 25G uses only regular gas!! but the 25S uses high octane gas
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the 25S tire size is 205/60R15
the 25XG & 25G tire size is 195/65R15
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the 25S has front & rear spoilers that came standard
the 25XG & 25G did not come with front & rear spoilers
also what came standard on the 25S are front & rear stabilzers
the 25XG & 25G only has front stabilzers
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
okay now this is the part i don't understand:
all 3 models are 4-speed automatic inline 5 SOHC 20valve
the 25XG & 25G has 180HP while the 25S has 190HP!
...what does the 25S have for it to have 190HP??
the 25S isn't a V-TEC
any ideas??
maybe the ECU chip? --- fuel management?

Keep in mind that those figures are for PS not horsepower. Slight difference in terms of measurement. Plus Japanese gasoline octane ratings are slightly different.
The are TWO versions of the G block (the only 5 cylinder engine Honda has ever made)
One was 2.0 liters, the other 2.5 liters. As you can guess, the 2.0 is the el cheapo engine, thus having less power.

Several Hondas carried the 2.0 5 cylinder engine, not just the Inspire.
As for PS, it was originally a German term "Pferdestarke" which translates into "Horse strength" if I remember my 5 years of German I took
HP = 745 watts of energy
PS = 735 watts
Hence why you'll see some cars having higher PS ratings than HP ratings.

The background history on where PS came from is something I didn't know before. Now I do. That's cool.
But that does not explain the power difference between the 25XG, 25G (180HP) and the 25S (190HP).
Acurasnake, you answered your own question when you state the 25S uses premium unleaded whereas the other two use regular.
Now here is the secret to those 10 extra ponies. Ready for this?
The 25S has higher compression. 10.0 as opposed to 9.3 for the 25XG and 25G.
Man, that's nice power. My Accord 2.7 only puts out 170HP.

btw... the site i got the specs:
alljapanesecars.com
here some more info:
25S:
Maximum torque AT / MT / CVT (kg-m/rpm) : 24.2/3800
25XG & 25G:
Maximum torque AT / MT / CVT (kg-m/rpm) : 23.0/3800
yeah i was just thinking of more ways to add more HP to the 2.5tlers but it looks like if we want 25S performance then we'll have to get the engine

No.. you 2.5 guys already HAVE that engine. You just need higher octane gas and slightly different pistons. But you won't gain all that much.
Since I doubt you want to buy 100 octane fuel right now on a regular basis..
You'd be better off getting a 5 speed manual from a Vigor. It would be a bit more expensive, but you'd see a much larger performance boost.

Anyone planning on do any of this to their 2.5??? I've read that two 3.2 TL'ers are going to do the legend tranny swap...

I always thought 93 was the optimal octane and that mean higher octanes wouldn't deliver improved performance.
Wouldn't the mileage go down and the extra fuel richness cause overheating.

Now, on an Integra Type R or other engines that have very high compression, no.
