Honda help.

I know this isn't a "honda" forum, but many of you guys seem to know a lot about them, and I don't want to join a new site to ask a single question. I feel comfortable here, and I trust you guys.

Here is my predicament. My friends 1989 CRX is dead in my driveway. He shut it off last night, and in the morning, no fire. It cranks fine.

No noise from the fuel pump. No voltage to the pump. Main relay right? No. He bought a new one, an still no start.

I checked every fuse. When I turn the key, the dash lights come on, no codes. When I turn the key, the main relay makes no noise, no click, no tick.

My question is... is there anything between the keyswitch and the main relay on these older hondas? Is it al all likely that the new relay is shit?

Thanks for any help.
I want his car running, so I don't have to drive him around in the TL
Again, thanks!

Sorry for your predicament.

Repost this in Car Talk, and you'll get much better responses.

If you're sure no voltage to fuel pump (remember the voltage only stays on 2-3 secs and then ECU shuts voltage down), then check voltage input to the main fuel relay. You will need a wiring diagram to be sure which wire to check (autozone.com should be helpful). Site recommended by Dueceon9er is good. If you find that voltage is available to fuel pump, then fuel pump is kaput.

It is usually helpful to determine if spark is missing by removing a spark plug lead and using an old plug to confirm spark is available. A timing light will also do this by checking that timing light flashes are generated.

good luck
