Post Got Short Ram Installed

Man, I love it. I got the silver tube with the blue cone and blue hoses. I can seriously tell you that the engine is loving evry bit of it too. I was next to a guy last night and he said that my car sounded like it had some nuts to it. I told him that it was just the intake, and he was suprised. It really did make a difference when it comes to the cabin noise. Once I hit 4,000 RPMS, that baby just opens up and howls. I defnitley reccommend it to any 1st gener.

Well, then don't get it. It only get's loud when you want it to. In other words, if you step on it, it makes a deep growl. But if you don't step on it and just drive normal, it sounds like a little hiss. I can chirp the tires off the line now if I turn the TCS off. I'm lovin' it.

I got it from a local speedshop. I'll take some pics, problem is, I don't have a membership with photopoint anymore, so I can't really post the pics on here.

Ohhh yeah. With the car ideling with the hood up, you can hear this hissing sucking sound. If I give it a little gas, you can hear a hiss (that's the throttle body opening). But as soon as I close the hood, you can't hear a thing, unless I give it some gas.

Jusr called the speedshop, and they said that the original Weapon R intake that ordered didn't fit, so they had to use an OBX tube with all of the Weapon R Fixtures i.e. Hoses, cone, gaskets. Still looks good though.

That sucks!! Why doesn't the '98's have TCS? they stopped making two different models in 98 if I am not mistaken. So why didn't they put TCS in the 98? damn that sucks. I can chirp my tires off the line, but I wish I had TCS.

I do have them uploaded, but for some reason they aren't appearing up on Photopoint. When I click on the link I can see the pics just fine. Try this one:

nice. couple of questions about short rams in general. do they do much to the performace? i've heard max. +5hp. true? can you feel any difference? (hear?) does that have a nice sound to it?

about yours, is there one from like AEM or Comptech? why did you choose the one you chose? I am planning on getting one this summer but don't know if there are any. and where did you do the piping? is it custom? any problem with heat or anything? one last one, do you have any problems of getting water in there? like in a car wash or on a rainy day? is it better to get the cold air ones then? thanks A LOT!

Not sure how much horse power was gained. However, I have noticed better acceleration from 1st gear. The sound of the intake is great. It truly makes the car sound like it has some nuts. As far as AEM or Comptech, I am not aware if they make an intake for our car or not, but I don't think that they do. The intake was originally ordered from Weapon R. But when the pipe came in, the tuning shop noticed that they had to modify the pipe to fit correctly. At any rate, the tube is OBX and the cone and hoses are all from Weapon R. On the original intake system, there is a hose that runs to where my breather filter is now. If you look in the pics, the breather filter is the little K&N filter that you see right near the intake. Normally, there would be a hose running from the intake to that fixture, but instead, the tuning shop added the breather filter to the fixture intstead of running a hose; therefore the breather filter is taking in it's own air. Hope that makes sense. All in all I am very happy with the outcome. I highly recommend adding one to your car.

I paid a little over 200 bucks for everything. I guess it was a little pricey because it was a Weapon R.
