Got a prob here.....

The other day, I backed into a curb, but my car is so low without my wheels on, that I F'D up the muffler, and dented it, underneath, and pushed it back a little. I went to my local guy, he called around, cheapest stock muffler, is $337. Or I can get an aftermarket for $200 or so. Problem is, I don't want a LOUD muffler on my TL. My Accord was so loud, it was fun, but I'm not really into that anymore. Although, it would be cool to change the sound a little, I'm worried it will be too loud, then I will be like shit!!! I like the nice quiet sound my TL has now. Help.... Help....haha....

I dunno what to tell you. Don't know anything about aftermarket mufflers.

Except I do know the Remus one for the Legend was considered very classy but still authoritative. I don't think Remus still makes it but you might want to consider that.

shit man you want something quiet cheap and still have somewhat "performance" gains with a stock look? go with the Flowmaster 30 series, hell you can even get away with the 40 series mufflers without being that loud. If you are willing to spend money you should look into the RS*R Gmax exhausts they have proven performance gains and a really nice tone. Haven't heard one on a TL but i have a friend with it on his G35

Hey Acurasnake, did you get the specific Legend one or a general one? I looked at the link you gave and didn't see the Legend one. But just wondering.

Does anybody here have the Legend one? I saw and heard it on a Legend and it was damn nice.

Hey cornflake, approx how loud is it? How about scale 1-10. 1 being stock, 10 being very loud with headers, full intake, full exhaust?

I would have to say that at low to med throttle...from maybe a 2-3 and at WOT probably 4-5. But that also includes sound from my intake as well, kinda hard to say for JUST the exhaust. It's really a good level of sound to keep it almost stock quiet but give you some growl when you want it.

I don't think the legend ones will fit. Exhaust systems tend to be pretty application specicifc, even for a muffler. The one I got is meant for an accord, so at least the basic shape was good, fits over the axle and everything, but had to cut off the flange and weld it together cause it wouldn't bolt up.

Ahh ok. Well I was just assuming since the Legend is the closest relative to a 3.2.

Anyway Acurasnake, how does the Universal fit? And how much was installation? I'm pretty interested now.

Cornflake, if you're reading this, just want to tell you I'm going to send you a PM.

i haven't gotten my muffler installed yet. but you can go to a local shop who specializes in muffler installation like meineke. and they'll do all the necessary welding. ...i haven't asked for an estimate yet i'm thinking not over $200
