Got my car back...ahhhhhhh
It feels good to drive it, especially since I was driving an 8-cyl Oldsmobile behomoth while it was gone.
I failed inspection terribly (almost every test). Had my mechanic look at it and the one O2 sensor was bad, plus no voltage was getting to any of the emissions cause the wiring was shorting out or something. Anyway, cost me $300 for a new secondary O2 sensor, plus I got a tranny flush and a few other cleanings done. Total cost was $480....ouch
The gas mileage should go up considerably now (up from 200mi/tank). The engine sounded better too.
My mechanic also said to me "Dude, that is a really nice car. That's one of the nicest cars you are going to have for a while. People were commenting on it and how nice it was. Your lucky to have such a car at a young age." Grrr, this makes me kinda angry because I want to get something new, but he is right...it is nice.
Now I am debating on whether or not I wanna keep it and start the modding process all over again. The problem is that is has 143,xxx miles on it and the tranny is going to go in the near future cause it is eating fluid and shifts fairly rough. Also, the exterior looks like shit cause people consitantly scratch/key it. I think that if I do decide to keep it, I am going to have to get it repainted for sure...like first thing I do. Then, the wheels are beat up as well so I gotta get new ones. GOD, I dunno what to do...hmmm...

I thought my milage was high, damn.
Is the tranny eating fluid a bad seal, and the hard shifting because of the lack of fluid? Hehe, I'm a noob to these things.
If you are going to mod it, definately get something new, I wish I wasn't in such a pinch for buying this car when I did, so that I could do some modding, but I was in a pinch, and came across a good deal on a car that I felt really good in.
Exterior, give it a good detail, spend an entire day with it, with the right products, I'm sure it won't look like it has 145k miles on it anymore.
Stock wheels? Mine have a couple chunks missing!

I know what you mean man... It's like a double sided issue.
On one hand, the car get's good attention. People love our cars man... They're damn nice. But on the other hand, there are those people who just can't appreciate what other people worked hard for.
Think of it this way, if you get another car it'll be nice too, right? What makes you think people won't mess that up? And you got 143K miles on it so you might as well keep it... It's proven it's reliability.

Yea I just sold my 98' 3.2 tl because of the terrible gas mileage, 90k tuneup, and bald tires. I thought to myself, with all that money I would have to spend...why dont I just throw in a few more g's and get myself a TL type s with navi? And I did! I do miss my first gen though...it was my first car and I never took it for granted. It's all good, I can still see it from time to time since I sold it to my uncle

I was getting a little over 200 miles on a fill-up. Basically, since the O2 sensors weren't working, the computer was assuming that it had to put out the maximum fuel.
It does have a lot of miles on it, especially since it is a '98. If the tranny didnt seem to suck, then I would prolly definitely keep it. It was my first car too, and I don't like driving it b/c people get the wrong impression since I am young. People are always saying how nice it is, but I really don't like that kind of attention... I dunno.
The exterior has a few BIG key marks...like a foot long. And since I am in college, it is hard to keep a car in pristine condition will all the douchebags out there. Also, UnsanePyro, the finish came off my wheels on most of it, so the center looks like bare metal and the rest is peeling. Looks terrible. I think that I am going to keep it until something else major goes on it, then I will seriously consider something else..my main concern right now is getting it back to showroom condition

First test with the fixed car and full tank of gas: 265miles/tank. I would say 2/5 of that was highway and 3/5 city driving. I'm hoping the tank I am on now will get closer to 300..

Damn guess what...I got less than 200 miles at a little less than quarter tank. Does that seem right? It was all city miles. Anything I can do to increase gas mileage?
I just got my tires filled up...all tires except 1 were running on 26 PSI, and the punctured one around 22 PSI. The tire had a nail in it and I got it fixed for free at Les Schwab. Nice people there. Now they are all at around 36. Should that help with mileage at all?

Don't get mileage mixed up with appearance. My '98 3.2 has 176k on it, and I think it looks very very nice. We are fortunate to be able to keep it inside a carport and I keep it clean and waxed (well, most of the time anyways!).
