got muffler

so i just ordered a new muffler. magnaflow stainless steel. i hope it's worth it. they are going to bend me a new pipe....taking off the resonator and just making it one piece from behind the cat to the muffler. here is a link to it:

magnum

i think this will still look pretty 'normal'...no ricey look, etc. i just hope the sound is what i want....nothing crazy, just subtle. should get it next week, then will have it installed a week from this saturday or so. 'ing for the best lol

oh, and no, i didn't pay 244 for that thing....got it for like 139, free shipping

Unless you have the shop put in a resonator your car is going to be loud. I have installed more of these mufflers than I can count and unless somethins is put before the magnaflow (either a resonator or smaller pre-muffler) its going to be loud and raspy. Magnaflows are wide open with very little sound dampening material. You probably wont get the gurgle assocaited with honda's small 4 bangers but it wont be the smoothest tone. It will still sound awesome, dont get me wrong on that, just warning you that the tone might be louder than you anticipate. Hope everything works out for you, those SS mufflers look absolutely amazing.

hmmm.....if it turns out to be too loud.....i'll go back and say i'm unsatisfied, and have them put a resonator in. i think it's 100% satisfaction guarantee, so they sould conform to my wantings if i'm not happy. i saw the resonator and pipe under the car while it was up as well....it all looked like crap. so either way it'd have to be taken out. i'll let y'all know....i hope it looks good like you say!

Thats suprising. Did you go with a bigger exhaust pipe as well or retain the stock one?

Stock size. Replaced it due to rust.

the stock pipe, from the resonator to the pipe that goes to the muffler, is double walled. that cuts down on sound as well. replacing it with a single wall pipe will make it a bit louder i think, but maybe not too bad.

Interesting. I havent noticed any difference myself and I definitely listened for any significant changes.

i'll have to let you know. when i got the car, it was mostly quiet....only louder at higher rpms. since the baffles have been dying inside current muffler, it has gotten icky loud. so when i have it done, i'll let you know. even if it's a bit louder, i want it to be consistent throughout the rpm band. having it pan out in certain places sounds cheap to me. it should be like stock, even it's louder (as per the consistantcy of the sound). i hope i achieve something of that sort.
