Unhappy Goodbye Beautiful

wife is making me sell the car. shes tired of spending money on it and says i need a new car. i dont want a new car... i want my old beautiful darling TL. im keeping all of the stuff i bought for it because there will be another TL in my life. a first gen too. but i have been looking at a miata mx-5 but i want the acura gone before i bring it home. dont want to hurt my darlings feelings by having her have to look at a younger faster girl in the driveway. shes posted for sale on the black market............ wish i could post pics but i have no camera...

a 3G TL would be considered a new car...

...doesn't require a whole lot of spending...unless you have the mod bug...

doesn't really make sense to me...she wants you to have a new car but she doesn't want you spending money? Frankly keeping your TL would be a better decision financially than getting an MX-5. The TL is already paid off, more practical, and insurance is probably cheaper.

so you are thinking of trading a 1G TL for a $5000 miata?
These cars aren't really comparable in terms of use.
My friend wants a miata, although that is admittedly because he cant afford an S2000.
also look at what the MX-5 will be worth in 4 years. you can see the clear decline in value for every year a mazda ages.

don't really get the idea of grabbing another 1g for $3grand?? probably its gonna require more maintenance than the 1g you already have.

i don't know how much your going to sell the current 1g for but i think its better off to keep it

Miata's are more practical than S2Ks in a sense.

Cheaper car (even with retractable hard top)
MUCH cheaper insurance.
Bad ass incentives on the soft top.
6spd, 5spd, Auto
More usable daily-driver torque, comes in handy in traffic
Cheaper Mods
More features (Stereo with more than 4 shitty speakers, heated seats, etc)
More Comfortable
Better ride quality
Better gas mileage, and smaller gas tank

I love S2K's, but the MX5 was in my budget. I've driven the piss out of both on drives/track situations and I can say that the difference is minimal. Handling and braking are spot on. Power is the only drawback, but it is still a, though not a quarter mile car, a mid to late 14 second car. Hell, if I can keep up with Elise's, Vettes and Porshces...i don't even care.

Comparible performance, with none of the cost. Its a great daily (35-40mpg freeway) and its a track superstar.

All that is true, but when I see a dude in a Miata, I can't help but thing "fag". I think that a miata is more of a woman's car or for older people whose life didn't turn out as well and they didn't manage to buy that convertible 911, so their options are are either a miata or a sebring convertible

Ah, yes.

You make perfect sense. People who have made it in life, purchase $70k Porsches ....and people who's life didn't turn out right buy $30k Miatas. Basically you're saying that in order to have looked successful in life, you must purchase a said amount of car?

MX5s base at 22k. Mine was 28k OTD. I tried 350z, RX8s, 3rd Gen TLs, S60Rs, and everything else you can think of. Got a sweet trade on my CL, and now im driving my first new car with payments I can afford.

I'd say at 22 im doing great for myself, but to you im just a "fag" who hasn't made it in life yet...

To the OP, buy it if you like it....I promise you will. Theres a very active, supportive community out there with no shit talkers, teenagers, etc.

Motor on!

Don't have to get all defensive and bitchy. I just say what I see - MOST of the people that I see who drive Miatas are either women or old people. That being said, most people who I see driving 911's are old people as well, so I deduce that the Miata drivers don't have the cash to buy a 911 and therefore go for the cheaper option.

Like I said, I'm pretty sure that the miata is a good car, but I'd never buy one since it's way too small and I'd look like a god damn retard in it.

What year is the MX-5?
I had a 1991 (must be stick) back in the days before the TL.
Great car never gave me any serious problems very reliable and parts are cheap.
Alot of aftermarket stuff too. Its a blast to drive zipping around lanes. More fun to drive then TL, but I know 2 totally different cars. TL is a luxury cruiser more my style now. If you don't need the space get the miata, trust me you love the way it drives.

Don't buy a RED 1 (my only complaint), COPS love to pull you over for speeding, which honestly I don't think I was. It just seems like you are going fast but your not really u know. FUK the police.
