so this is what happened. Before i put my car away for winter my check engine light came on. I didnt think much of it as i was storing it away for 4 months. When i pulled her out, the light was gone.....for about a thousand miles and BAAAM its back. I just assumed it was my 02 sensor due to the horrible gas milage (musta been my horrible driving ;o) I had a friend check it out with his lil computer thing and nothing. The screen on the thing said there was no problems or codes to report. The o2 sensors were reading obk as lwell as everything else. He shut the check engine light off and said to try it for a while... something about it must have been a ghost light. any ideas or this ever happen to anyone? :thinking:

 

Was your gas cap on tightly? Sometimes if its loose it'll come on and then disappear the next time you get gas.

Just a thought.

 

do you use premium gas? maybe you need to change your oil

 

The first thing I did when the light originaly came on was check the manual. One of the problem solvers is 2 check the gas cap and I did. I use 93 because the manual says no less that 91 for gas. Before I stored my car I had the oil changed, and as soon as I took her out as well. Anyone ever have the light come on for no reason? I guess I won't find out what's wrong untill its too late :o(
