Getting Keys Made

Hi Everyone
Quick question, I purchased a key on ebay (wood, i liked the look) and had it cut but I put it in and it won't turn so I figure the cutter screwed up, I buy another key at a different hardware store and it is the same thing it goes in but won't turn. My question is ... does the 97 3.2 have a transponder in it? Thanks for your help.

no, the first gens don't have transponders in the key. It probably is just the people cutting it that are screwing it up or your ignition is really worn out.

I had a problem with getting keys copied. They have a tendancy to only work in the ignition in one way. You should have gone to the dealer and got it cut from your VIN. If you do, take a look at that versus the original key and you will be amazed at the differences.

plus getting it done from the dealer, since there is nothing to the key BUT they key.....it's only like $6 or so each. that's good deal to me. (even though the ones i got from dealer won't open my trunk?? lol...oh well, that's why there's a pull tab by the driver's seat)

kinda pointless for me if i do decide and shave the key holes and door handle, but hey, thought i should share..
