Actually, I really don't know, I don't think so though because there is the selector in the instrument cluster (Theres a writeup I did on how to replace the bulb in there if its burnt).
I'll keep an eye on it tonight on my way home from work, in like 8 hours

Hmmm...my 3.2TL's shifter light turn on when the lights are on. What you can do is carefully pry the black plastic off and you should be able to see a light there on the bottom side of the plastic. There's only one light bulb so when the lights are turned on, the whole row of indicators will light up.

I just looked at Sunnyside Acura's web page, 2.5TL's have the bulb too. They sell it for $1.79 so go to the dealer and get it. It might be a little more expensive, but should be comparable once you add shipping to that $1.71. Hope this helps!!

instruction to replace the bulb
To fix it, it's pretty ez and simple.
U'll probably need to buy another bulb from the dealer for under 2 bucks.
1. Unscrew the 2 screws under your coins holder.
2. Open your arm rest and pull up the small carpet and unscrew all the screws below.
3. Move both the passenger and the driver chair all the way back and there should be 1 or 2 screws on each side, I forgot. Unscrew it.
4. Carefully lift up the whole center piece and you should see the light that lights up your shifter gear. Remove the cigarette lighter if it is in your way of pulling the center piece off.
5. Once you spot the bulb in the middle next to your gear shifter, replace it and you're done!!
If you got stuck, let me know. Good luck!

It's easier than that even. You can actually just pry up the gearshift surround carefully with your fingers. Don't have to pull the console apart. Just pry up on the black plastic with your nails, and pull up. COmes up pretty easy. The bulb is right there.

I'm sorry, I've tried searching the threads but I can't find it.
How do you remove the shift knob? Is it just like a manual tranny in that you unscrew it? I try twisting it and it seems pretty solid. I'm scared of breaking something.
