Fog light and High Beam
Fog light and High Beam
I connected my fog light to the wire mentioned in one of the sticky and now I can turn on the fog lights without turning on the headlights. Before , whenever I turned on the high beam, fog lights would cut off. Now, it does not, and that's no big deal to me.
My concern is , if the fog light does not turn off when the high beam is triggred, does it do any damage to the wire or any thing could go wrong ?
What is the real reason for the fog to cut off when the hig beam is on ?
thanks

Foglights work by either being mounted real low, or by aiming low. The intention is to project light underneath the fog, since fog banks typically hang a few feet off the ground.
Fog is a bunch of dense water and other particles in the air. Essentially, fog is a wall for your light. High beams are a liability with fog because the light bounces off the particles and comes back to you, potentially blinding you. On low beams, the light is aimed lower so there's less of a chance of your own headlights blinding you.
Yellow has been the traditional color for fog lights because it is thought the longer wavelengths of yelow light can bend around fog particles and therefore pierce the fog better. This has shown to be untrue, but the tradition continues.

wackjum, thanks for the knowledge.
UnsanePyro, no I can just turn the fog on by itself. One drawback is, once you turn the car off and take out the key, it does not beep . so , fog lights will run the battery dry if you forget to turn it off.

was it hard to wire the lights like that? I've wanted to try, but If I have to take my guage cluster out again, theres no way I'm doing it. that was a pain to get the dam thing out when the wheel doesnt tilt, it just slides up and down.

The guage cluster is easy to pull out I thought, even did a write up on it, its just a pain to get back in and onto the studs that hold it in place.
What wires do you connect? To lazy to search at the moment, home sick and have been on the forums all day
