To the owners of the first gen TL,
I am a new owner of a 2002 Type-S (sorry to brag right away) and I was wondering if the extended warranty plan is worth the extra $$$. I did quite a bit of research before dropping the cash to have the privilege of owning such a great car but I wanted to know from the people who drive one every day to see if any major problems experienced after the 3 year coverage expired.
Any help/thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again in advance.

I haven't had the need to make used of my extended service and warranty plan but to me its always best to be safe than sorry. I have been hearing that some of the Honda V-6 Accords out there have been having problems with their transmission and to have that replaced at your cost is quite pricey! So I personally would much rather invest the additional $1,000 that they are asking to ensure that your car is covered for 100,000miles. Plus if you were to sell your car in five years you can transfer the warranty over to the new owner which is something that most used car buyers are concerned with.
Just my two cents hope it helps in your decision.

well i got the x warranty with my tl when i bought it used and thank god i did. i have had the master cylinder replaced, rear diff. seal, left front camshaft seal, and left front door power window motor. all that woulda cost me over 3000. instead i pay my 50.00 deductable and im on my way. only one that was a real problem was the master cylinder, the car sounded like it had a turbo whistling noise when u turned it off. all the others i listed except for the window motor the dealer found and replaced when i brought it in. but go 4 it man, even though its a honda and they run 4 evr when u sell it the other person will like the x warranty u car has over the ones that do not.

An 02 Type-S - damn - Congrats.
I may be in the minority but I think they are a waste for Acuras/Hondas.
In my personal experience I've had three prior Acuras with a combined mileage of close to 400K miles. Only one problem - a broken front spring on my old Vigor when it had about 70K miles. Everything else was fantastic - and I drive my cars hard. I haven't heard anything about gen 2's that says they should be any different.
My current Acura is a 96 3.2 has 50K miles and runs great. Buying an extended warranty tends to match peoples risk taking comfort - very conservative people will always buy the warranties. Those with a high level of risk tolerance will buy a Chrysler Minivan w/o an extended warranty. You need to find your comfort zone and go with it. Maybe I've been lucky with my cars, dbox obviously was fortunate he spent the dough for it.
