Extended Maintenance
Extended Maintenance
Few months ago I paid a visit to the dealership with a warped head on my 2.5. Darn thing just started choking on me. I was told the car overheated and twisted the head beyond repair. Cost me 4G's to replace the head and misc. parts that might have been damaged. I have also noticed that my engine seems to heat soak easily. Is it just mine or is everyone else having the same problem??? I was also told the 2.5's(in so.cal.) receive a free factory tuneup at 75k miles from Acura. Something about the engine not passing the smog check. I am taking mine in next week.
I had it done at an Acura dealership. I thought it was too much also, but by the time they found out what the problem was, they had dismantled the entire engine. If I wanted my car back, they had to put it back together for a tune of $1500. I was pissed, but I also did not read the fine print and they would not release my vehicle unless I paid up. The rental car fees would be waived only if I had the vehicle "repaired" so I was stuck. Needless to say, this is probably the last Acura I purchase.
My g/f has a 2001 C320 Benz. They give free rental cars whenever they take over an hour to do any repairs or maintenance. They have free sheduled maintenace and they never seem to break, her father has an 94 S500 that he takes in periodically for FREE maintenance. My next car is a benz. If money is short, I will opt for a bimmer. I am crossing my fingers.

I have the 7 year 100,000 Mile warranty, but haven't had to use it yet, knock on wood. I have owned Honda/Acuras since 1984 and never had any problems with them, aside from routine maintenance that needed to be performed (Brakes/Exhaust/Tune-ups) I love the cars and convinced my Fiancee to get one as well so she purchased a 1999 Honda Accord EX V-6 back in 99' and she loves it.
I too have the 7 year 100,000 miles warranty(extended warranty), but Acura just would not pick the the check for this repair because I was not the original buyer. I bought the car used about 3 years ago. I talked to everyone from the dealership to Acura HQ. They said the Acura head failure was my fault. I don't see how I could warp a head. I did the periodic maintenance and regular oil changes. I understand that the warranty is there "just in case", but in my "just in case" Acura did not deliver. I guess that 7 year warranty was just hot air coming out their behind.
btw... My car CD player is no longer reading CD's. I tried CD Laser Cleaners, but no luck. And guess what! Acura warranty is only on powertrain or manufacturer defect. I am out of luck! Surprise!
