That happened to my 94 Camry, but I guess it's all the same on most cars. The front pipe(which connects to the cat) was rusted and burned to shit. I called scrap yards, but they wanted to sell the whole thing, and not just the front pipe. However, I'm sure that you might strike a deal with someone for the front pipe alone.
What I did was just weld the pipe back. It ran fine for a few months, until I sold the car and bought the TL.

Muffler Shop will do it for you CHEAP.... I paid $132 for a flex pipe and some welding and my TL ran quiet, smooth, and powerfully when the exhaust pressure was up to snuff.

My 2.5TL also had a loud exhaust sound coming from the engine area also. I later found out that it was the exhaust manifold, which was a common problem for the 2.5TL, and had it replaced under extended warranty at the dealer for free a couple years ago. In addition they changed the ignition wires, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, oil, and oil filter for free! I don't really know if this is the same sound that is coming from your engine bay area or not, but you should have it checked and see if you qualify for the extend warranty. There's a thread about this extended warranty with lots more info. Search it up and you will see.

I had my exhaust manifold cracked also and I was out of 14 yrs / 150k warranty.
I picked up an used manifold from a salvage yard for about $100.00 and my mechanic charged $200.00 to put that in including all the gasket ans shop supply.
Call the dealer for American Honda with your vin number and they can tell you if you qualify.
