Exhaust just went out...any idea's?

My exhaust has been sounding crappy lately, and I was cruising last night and bam, loud as hell. I took a look, and the pipe from the cat back to the muffler has a big hole in it. sounds kind of cool, but way ghetto. lol. Anyways, what kind of exhaust should I get? I want to get a cat back exhaust, and dont want it to be too loud, but want a low rumble...anyone have any ideas?

if your pipe has a hole in it, you'll have to replace it with a stock pipe. there are not catback exhaust made for our car. there are universal mufflers but no cat back..

So basically I'll just have to have the piece cut out and replaced...which is fine, but I want a nicer muffler for a few more horsepower and a little low end sound too, so any universal muffler should work? and has anyone tried certain type mufflers? I want a low rumble, not a crotch rocket loud

i replaced that peice of my 3.2 and it was easy but the pipe ran me like $60 and that was at cost. so the pipe is probably gonna run you close to $100
it looks like half a nazi sign right. if so you have to get the stock peice.

why you want your TL, which is a luxury car, to sound like a rice burner man keep it quiet. i love how my car sounds, like its not even running.

I agree, in my first post I said I wanted a lower rumble, but not a crotch rocket loud exhaust. I'm probably just going to get that curved piece replaced and just leave the stock muffler (it is the piece you were talking about AC). I cleaned up the tips and it looks good enough I think. I agree though, I wouldnt want it loud. Its loud now, and it's embarrasing.

cool deal
i wasnt being negative or anything towards you just giving my opinion and i am glad that i can help. we have nice japanese-made cars that will run forever and i feel no need to rice them out because then you will start beating on it and getting tickets to hear your exhaust

You could go with either Remus or RS*R either one will give just a faint lower grumble than stock and up the exhaust flow quite a bit giving a few extra ponies. A custom shop can make you a cat-back exhaust even though there are none out there "off the shelf". That's how all of my car's exhausts have been done. I have an RS*R muffler on my car now, and as soon as any of the pipe get's a hole in it, it's all getting ripped out and replaced cat-back.
