Emissions Inspections

I am due for an Emissions Inspection before the end of this month. My Check Engine Light is on and I took my ride to Auto Zone to get checked out. The OBD Tester read the trouble code and come to find out that my EGR Valve has insufficient flow. I know this is a warranty issue but my extended warranty is up. I also know where to get the part but I have been putting it off. My question for you all is:

Has anyone out there ever passed an Emissions Inspection without replacing or cleaning the EGR Valve?

I took a look at the 1996 warranties manual that was provided with the vehicle and it states that several parts are of the emissions control system were covered for 4 year or 50,000 miles(whichever comes first) and some are covered for 7 and 70,000 miles. If anyone knows if the emissions warranties have been changed since then, please fill me in.

Thanx for the quick reply TLBALLER.

My Bad TLBaller, I did a little more research and found out about the emissions warranty extension on our acuras and it is covered for 14 year or 150,000 miles.

The vehicles affected are:
Vehicles Affected
- 1995 Acura NSX
- 1995 Acura 2.5 TL
- All 1996 Acura models (except the Acura SLX)
- All 1997 Acura models (except the Acura Integra Type-R and Acura SLX)

You can also find more info here.

I'm so glad that I don't have to pay for any of these services.
Thanks for the input TLBaller.

You might pass, but why chance it? The problem is not a high$$ repair, and your car will run more efficiently if you replace it. It will save you money in the long run, not to mention the inspection uncertainty.

*$*@ers at the dealership didn't have any open appointments until Jan 8. Guess I'll ride w/out inspection for a couple more days.
