Door courtesy lights?

Where do the door courtesy lights get their power from? I need to use it as a source of power. I tried pulling the connector behind the left side kick panel and only my driverside one went out, so that means the wire is there for the driverside only. Where are the rest of the doors getting their power from? Thanx!

Use the gray wire going to pin 17 on the diagram in this post.... https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...2&postcount=19 .

I used a relay to connect this to my parking lights (red/white) wire on the security module and now my yellow fogs and my tails come on with the dome light whenever I press unlock from the remote (you need to have already done the "fog lights on without headlights" mod).... BALLINNNNNN

I might write up a DIY one of these days....

Note that my fogs / tails also come on any time the door is opened, which is kinda cool I think, but if that would bother you then find a different wire.

Also note that the gray wire would not be your source of power, it is just the trigger.... the source of power would actually be a constant 12v+ (white) wire.

One more thing.... I have a '98 3.2 so your wire colors may be different, but I'm pretty sure they're all the same.

I just tested the grey wire out and it turns out to be a constant, but when the done light is on, when i unlock the doors, the voltage goes down to .20 I'm starting to get confused

Whatever u use the constant 12V+ from the 18-pin connector make sure you don't overload the circuit. If not you'll start blowing fuses making the remote module disabled as well. Best thing would be to run a separate 12V+ from the battery with a dedicated fuse on it for your requirement. But it's your choice.

Make sure that you disconnect your negative battery terminal before messing with any of those wires!!!!

Do your puddle lights come with a red wire and a black wire, or what?

tested my idea out today.... no go for some reason, the courtesy lights stay on.
the way I have it hooked up is with an SPST relay is:
chasis - 30
negative dome light trigger - 86
positive constant - 85
output to door negative - 87

Unless the dome light negative is getting a constant flow of electricity w/o the door open, I dont see any other problems.

I even tried hooking up the grey security wire onto 86 and it still stays on no matter what. That means the grey wire is also getting a constant flow of negative?

Any ideas?

update! I found that If I connected everything as is but the ground onto the chasis I leave unplugged, then the relay clicks normal when the door opens and closes, but when I ground it onto the chasis and open the door, then close the door, the relay continues connect the chassis ground and the courtesy light ground. its confusing the crap outta me.

The diodes are basically one way street signs.... good for controlling the current flows when you are messing with stuff like that.

If (+) hits the stripe side, it stops. If (+) hits the other side, it passes through.

Also, make sure you have an SPDT relay, not an SPST like you mentioned above.

Yes they do, that's where I got mine. It's probably an SPDT.... whatever the "automotive relay" that they carry is the one you want.

My mistake, it looks like it was an SPST.... you should be okay.
