Correct. 1999+ TL's have the manual shift, also known as Sportshift.

flooring the pedal also has the exact same effect.

^ +1. I drive around in D3. I have to. D4 now starts me in 2nd gear with the torque converter locked... Hella sucks. D4 is only after getting to third in D3.

~Cheers~

I downshifted into D3 and floored it once going up a big hill on the freeway with 5 people in the car. Not only did the car get more power in third gear, but it automatically dropped it into second gear and I was at like close to 6k RPM. Let's just say I passed a lot of cars before it went back to third gear.

Dropping to D3 is hella nice, hella quick, but I hate doing it cause I swear i see my gas needle move every time i do it. Gas isnt that expensive anymore (at the secret stations) but still I hate for that needle to get the best of me.

I gave up on getting better mileage a long time ago, hehe.

Arco = shit gas.

When I'm in SJ, I get gas from the 76 on Almaden by Foxworthy. Only $5 or so a gallon... For what we use in the Supras, .

That or the Shell new McKee Rd. Today was $3.19 for Premium!

~Cheers~

If you wanna to blow up some smoke you should do this way:

Staing on "N" push up the engine to 3-4 rpm, then quickly shift to "1" and do not drop the accelerator! This not simple for the first time but if you do right, you can turn on to the fuel cutoff standing still, lots of smoke and emotions . If you'll miss "1" then your torque converter will block slowly, or you'll start from second gear. To anticipate some questions about "what will happened whith tranny?" I say - nothing. Most fraught part in tranny is differencial and joints, but if you know for sure that you have new quality liqud inside (like 75w90), your joints are still good, and fresh ATF Z1 is in your AT - venture! I have about 50-60 starts, done that way and fight lots of cars on 402 and my AT as large as life, but now it stays on my friend's inspire, I set up MT from 2,5 Vigor CB5 - that is much better than AT

I don't need any neutral dropping to reduce the tyres to smoke, m8:

All I did was punch it, .

^ I still need to go dyno her. Maybe after the repairs to the quarter-panel are completed. I didn't have too much trouble with the 3.2, either.

~Cheers~
