Do most TL owners consider the Vigor to be part of the 1st Gen TL line?

Just wondering since I have had an Acura dating back to the Vigor up to my new 04TL.

within the 1st gen TL, the engine is similar to the 2.5TL. not the 1st gen 3.2. i believe some of the body parts are similar.. im thinking the aftermarket springs are similiar but i could be wrong b/c the 1st gen TL bodies might be heavier than vigors therefore having diff springs ie eibach but i could be wrong.

History leason.
Pre 2.5tl/3.5tl Acura was in dire straights of not selling well in the US.
After using minor parts from the Legend. Acura created the TL line.
And so the evolution of Acura had begun.
Sales went up and so a new era of fine Acura products became available in the US.
So as for status and prestege. The 1996 2.5tl/3.5tl was its first generation of its new future.

2.5 from the Vigor and First generation TL are the same engine.

G25 is the engine designation.

3.2 is the same as the Legend engine.

C32

1st generation TL is a bit heavier than the Vigor and a bigger back seat.

Yeah they are similar, but I don't consider them the same.

Officiallly the TL is the replacement for the Vigor line, however first gen TL's are pretty much an amalgomation of the Legend and Vigor line. Acura offered the car with the Vigor's 2.5 I-5 and was marketed as the sportier veersion of the two and the 3.2 with the Legend's 3.2 V6 described as the more luxurious of the two. It worked out well, except they replaced the Legend with the RL, a nice, big car, but not one that has really ever gained acceptance as a high level luxo-cruiser, mainly because of it's lack of a V8 Engine.

Thanks for all the thoughts.

I originally drove a friends Legend which turned me on to Acura, and went out and got the Vigor.

I've owned/leased an Acura ever since, and considered the TL's to be a natural extension of the Vigor, but didn't know if it was considered "Officially" a relative of the 1st generation.

As much as I love my TL, I would still love to get a last year (think it's 95 or 96) Acura Legend Coupe 6spd w/230 HP. They area a BEAUTIFUL car. And pretty damned quick too with a few mods! IMHO one of the best lookig luxo-sport coupes out there still to this day (maybe 2nd the G35 coupe, can't help it, that car is just SICK!!)

It should. The engine bays are laid out almost identically.

Correct.

The 2nd Generation Legend engine is the same engine as the 3.2 TL '95 thru '98. Engine code C32

'92 - '94 Vigor engine is a 2.5 liter 5 cylinder, G25 block.
