distributor leaking oil please advice before Dealer steals my money

distributor leaking oil, the honda dealer recommends replacing the distributer but from what i've read here it is actually the distributor seals that needs replacement.

just spend that $4.00 gasket. and replace it your self, instead of that 333.00 distributor. see if it work, spend the little and fix it ur self , if it doesnt work let the stealer do it.

I don't have the time/space to work on this myself, I'm going to get a second opinion from another shop. I don't really trust this honda dealership, they are the same guys who diagnosed a bad battery when it was actually a faulty alternator.

Gasket #10 seals the distributor cap to the distributor. Oring #7 is part that causes oil to leak out around the distributor drive.

Note, if oil is leaking out of the distributor cap, the internal seal is leaking. It is much more difficult to replace, maybe not possible. I have replaced #7, but not an internal seal.

good luck

We found this internal seal in NOK's catalogue - NOK BH3888E. But its not so simple to find it in Russia, may be in US its more prolate.
