Dead TL

I don't know if one has anything to do with the other but I did not do any thing else to my car. I had the side markers installed on monday night and I drove my car from the place that installed them and to work the next morning but when I went to pick up my car after work it was dead. The radio comes opn and the lights and all the elctrical stuff are working fine it's just when I turn the key there is a click and that's it. I thought it was my battery but like I said all the electrical stuff are working fine. I'm taking it to the dealer on thursday but I was wondering has anyone had this problem? I've had my car for two years and have not had a single problem so any help would be appreciated.

Maybe your starter has gone bad?
Just a thought.

you might also be surprised what havoc water can wreak on a starter or its associated wires. the dealer might have an itchy 'replace' finger, try and find out if its just exposure of some sort, then you can seal it yourself or spray it with wire drying stuff... if that is the problem..

if you have an aftermarket alarm, it could be a faulty starter kill. that happened to me and the guy replaced a bad relay switch.

The thing is that I don't have any aftermarket alarm I have the factory. The way the car is acting though is like if a kill switch has been activated. So it's not possible that when they installed the side markers that they could have done something byt accident. I thought installing the sidemarkers was like an easy procedure. I thought starters did not go in our cars or alternaters either.

might be a fuse. when i tapped my spoiler LED brake light to the original 3rd brake light, everything shut down, i could still turn on the radio and all that but the car just wouldn't start. check your fuses.

I was thinking that because I just had side markers installed like a day ago but I was able to drive three times before it stopped working. How did find out it was when you tapped into your brake light and not your starter?

oh hmmm, do the side markers come on when you turn on your parking lights or are they hooked up to the signaling lights? i mean the car could've died cause you finally turned them on or something and that caused the fuse to blow. i'm not sure though. when i tapped into the brake light and tested it, it worked for like a lil bit. and then when i turned my car off i couldn't start it back up again. there was no click or cranking or anything. i had to get the car towed to a local shop and they found out that it was a blown fuse.
