custom exhaust?
custom exhaust?
ok i just ordered a universal dual tip DTM style exhaust (remus brand) and was curious what sort of price i should expect for installation and tips/helpful hints for selecting a shop for this job. I have helped friends with bolt on exhaust systems that already have metal prongs to slide into the rubber hangers. I am not experienced with welding or soldering. This exhaust i am ordering does not have these prongs; is there a way to hold the exhaust up besides just the weld from the pipe to muffler. Basically i am afraid that after installed it will bounce around due to lack of stability. sorry for ranting on...anyhelp appreciated.....
Any exhaust shop will weld the hangers on for you for free, provided they were the ones who welded the muffler onto the piping. Should do a full custom cat-back IMO, not just the muffler. Remus' are nice stuff, but heavy! Oh and dual DTM? Friggin' mid-90's mang. Haven't seen them on a properly fixed up car in awhile. See the dual DTM tips on all sorts of beaner cars, though, hehe.

It took me 2 180 mandrel u bends to make my whole exhaust with. Theres just 2 90s and its strait. Cake as hell to make..
Take the stock one off, and use it for a template.
2 stainless 3 inch mandrel u bends
4 feet of 3 inch stainless pipe
4 stainless hanger hooks
1 3inch center inlet, offset outlet borla stainless muffler
can of 1500 degree black jet hot paint
and a 45 degree bend for the tip so it looks like a stock muffler and i can aim the sound towards the center of the car and down(this way its nearly silent inside the car).
= my exhaust.
cost like 90 bucks ( i got a lick on the shit you prolly cant get)
ill have to take measurements zerep6, but i also wanted to make sure that the o2 sensor after the cat will not be affected and should i use 3 inch pipes on a 2.5tl ? (directed at go90go and colt45). and again i did not hear a price guesstamite on full catback and installation of muffler. Just do not want to get ripped off. Appreciate it.
^ Hell no. Don't use 3" unless you're turbo'd. You want some backpressure in the system to give you a bit of low-end "oomph" so don't believe in the whole less backpressure = more power. Exhaust velocity is what is important, which is why some shops with a too strong fan for exhaust removal can actually bump up a car's power ratings when dynoing. The rear o2 sensor is actually IN the rear outlet of the cat, not in the exhaust piping, so a cat-back will not make you have any problems (at least, not with that). For your 2.5, the biggest you should go is 2.5" but 2.25" would be cheaper, and you won't really suffer any power difference between the two, with the exception of a slight shift in powerband.

^ On your's, you might actually feel/get a higher gain compared to a 2.25" since you've got VTEC kicking in those higher lobes in the upper RPMs. Not a whole lot, but more than we would get i.e., 1G 2.25" = 6HP : 2.5" = 10HP; 2G 2.25" 6HP : 2.5" 12HP. Where you're making that power is also very different between 1G and 2G. BTW, these aren't real numbers if you're wondering Timmy, just an example.

At least do an axle-back so you can't easily see where they cut and welded it... My m8's Accord has a half-axle-back and it looks like shit.
