Question Coolant temp sensor

I was trying to look up the resistance values of the ECT (Two wire sensor) and im not having any luck at all. I have two of them, and i want to use the "better" of the two.

I put both of them in the same cup of ice water for about 10 minutes, then tested them both with the ohm meter.
One read 3.40 at 20k ohms, and the other didnt register.

I guess i could just buy a new one...$20...but i still like knowing these little tidbits.

Oh yeah, 1996 3.2

I looked at 2.5 TL ECT sensor resistance vs. ECT and 3.4K ohms is reasonable for 32F. On chart 5kohms is 0F and 1K ohms is 40F. I've found these charts will never be spot on when checking.

On some VOMs, there may be a 2K ohms range which may test your ECT sensor and would be more accurate.

good luck
