Car shine question

The hood of my car has this dull look to it. It is kind of sticky and I am thinking its sap from trees or something. I hardly ever park under trees for this reason but I really am not sure if its sap or what. How do I get rid of the gunk so i can show the shine of my hood? I use those "wax as you dry" liquid when I wash my car but that doesn't work. Should I use the cream wax and use a buffing machine to buff it out? Will a towel work? help me por favor

bro u live in TX which is the second best state to have your car clean because it rains so little... invest in a PC (porter cable) and wash your car on a weekly basis like i did when i was in Dallas...

a PC with some meguiers swirl remover or polish and finish it off with a good carnuba wax.. and you are good to go...

***ill leave the thread here for another day or so, and if you don't get any GOOD responses, i will move to the wash and wax section... ***

I used a light blue wax, I think the name was Zymol or something along those lines, then I used the Liquid Diamond detailing spray wax . Both caused the car to really shine nicely. Granted there was only so much the wax could do to a 10-year-old paint job, but it looked and felt great. Everyone who tried to lean up against my car literally fell off, hehe. It was a funny sight in the parking lot.

~Cheers~

First of all, you need to clean off that sticky substance to prevent further damage. See this thread for info about tree sap. I would suggest reading this article and then decide on a course of action. As I said, you need to remove that "sticky stuff" from your car. This is what a properly detailed vehicle looks like;

There's a "How To" by exceldetail right on our own Wash & Wax Forum. There are several brand name claybars available and cheapest I found was from Exceldetail. If you're lookin' OTC, there's Megs, Mothers and sometimes you may find Clay Magic at your local auto parts outlet (Kragen, AutoZone).
