Post camber problems

sup guys, just got back from the tire dealer and found out that i have some camber problems due to my eibach springs. I guess it's time to shell out more money for the camber kit. hope everyone who's installed the springs get it checked out. oh yeah i had the pro kit. kinda surprised that my camber would be off, but that's the risk we take for messin with our cars.

yeah i know the price of the camber kits are steep. since i'm going to be driving up to sf (in LA right now) in a couple days, i want to get this thing fixed. so i'm going to go into Big O Tires and get it fixed, the estimate was around 560 for my fronts and rears including labor. oh yeah i have a 97 2.5 TL. i just hope my shocks don't give out on me too. Knock on wood.

$560?!?! Damn and that is for your fronts. My front camber does not seem that far off. My rear on the other hand seems to be really negative. I did not see a front camber kit from Eibach either, just a rear one. One was +/- 50 and the other was +/- 75. Don't really know which one I need yet or what the difference is. They are both the same price though.

what is running you $560? Seems awefully high!!

the 560 is for the camber kits for ALL four tires and the labor. the parts itself costs you around 350.

I just got my alignment done at the dealership. It was $59.95 + tax...and there was NO problems. He said my toe was out of wack and I asked about the camber and he said its fine. I don't see why you need camber kits.

so we don't need camber kits huh?
yeah the rear tires look a little bowed in after the eibach drop
but then i haven't noticed any irregular inside tire wear
so if camber is fine.. then that's really good news

yeah that is what I was worried about. cause if you look from the back, it seems that the rear wheels have too much negative camber. but they again when you look at some other cars its the same way. All I know is no camber kit was needed. So I am happy. And it drives straight now!

Question

sorry guys, but what exactly is a camber? a camber kit? camber?

is that also what you need to worry about when you plan to drop? I thought it was just the shocks and seeing if they can take the extra pressure. thanks.

sup guys got my camber fixed, 530 plus tax. man i guess i've been pretty unlucky with my car these few months. windshield taken out by a golf ball, hesitation on start ups and now the camber problem. oh wellz.

jz: camber is just how "verticle" your wheels are. negative camber is when the top of your wheel is angled in towards the car and thus causes premature wear on the inside of your wheel. a camber kit basically fixes the problem so that the camber is back to within factory specs. i think the camber is a big problem associated with lowering your car cause it can cause premature wear on your tires. and tires are freaken expensive. so you can either pray that you don't have a camber problem when you drop your car, or get it checked out and get a camber kit and maybe save yourself a few bucks in the long run.
