how about raybestos or axxis metal masters. i have raybestos on both front and rear. changed them over 4 years ago and i STILL have 50% - 60% left on them...when i heard that, i was hella surprised. i have at least 20K miles left on them.

I just replaced my front brake pads (after 60K miles) with a set of AXXIS pads. They are really great. I haven't noticed a super improvement in stopping or anything, but they really do perform well. But they seem to dust a lot more than my stock pads. Maybe this is just because they're new, but I've had them on for about 4K miles and they still dust like crazy. Well, no big deal. I wash my car every week anyway...twice during the winter.

hey unx...

I used some cheap crap that I picked up from my local AutoZone and man was it noisy.
I ended up replacing it with stock Honda/Acura pads. It wasn't too expensive, I think I paid about $45 for the front pads.

I didn't have dust problems or wasn't too much of an issue for me.

I would stick with Original Honda/Acura pads unless you're going to track your car.

Anyone here Track their TL or have done an AutoCross in their TL?
Wondering how it handles and what mod's were done on the car before tracking it.

unx,

I know you know this but... for those who have not replaced pads on their Acura TL's rears.

The calipers don't get PUSHED in ... it's Turned Clockwise like a screw to get it pushed back for the new pads to fit.
I used a needle nose pliers by opening it up and using the noise end to fit into the + looking slot.

yeah, brakes are the one thing that you dont need failing on you while driving. however, since i helped my dad change the brakes on the Vigor, the TL has the same setup so it was easy for me.

From what I get out of this thread it should be similar for the fronts. Most honda/acuras are similar for the most part when changing brake pads. I changed my brakes like 2 years ago when I got the car. When I had the pads changed last month I just had my mechanic do it because it's been raining so much here and I wanted to go to the meet with my friends . But it should be the 2 calipers bolts, swing it back around and remove the pads. Clean the new ones, change the shims. Compress the calipers with a clamp and go in reverse. Put some anti-seize on the bolts torque em back to spec. Get into the car and press the brakes so the calipers close. The rears should be similar with the exception of how to compress the calipers, it's mentioned about but instead of using a clamp you take a big screw driver and twist it back in then press on the brakes for it to lock back up.

But hopefully other members can input cus that's just the top of my head and most of that is from recently working on an integra.
