Box full of audio components

Okay, inside my dad's storage unit today, I found his old system for his truck, and he said i can have it.

This consisted of:

Alpine Flip up DVD/Navi
Alpine 6 Disc Cd Changer - CHA-S624
Alpine 4/3/2 Channel Amp - MRV-F305
Alpine 2/1 Channel Amp - MRV-T407
4 MB Quart 160 5.25" speakers w/tweeters
2 12dB crossovers

I already have a Fosgate 325watt mono amp powering 2 12" punch subs and a DUAL headunit, and what i've noticed that the subs, no matter what i do to them, always seem to overpower the speakers, and I was wondering if it would make sense to put in the 4/3/2 channel amp and the quart speakers (at least for the front door). Would that be more power than the stock speakers on AFM headunit even though the actual new speakers would be smaller?

I have no idea about your question but he just gave you like a grand's (or more) worth of components. I wish my dad had that to give away, lol.

I have been grappling with the same issue...bass/sub overpowering mids/highs. My goal is great SQ. After doing a bit of research and talking to some real car audio junkies/techies, I have decided to bump my amp to a Zapco dc1000.4 (1000 watts total, 150 per side for mids and highs) I am having it installed this Weds. and will let you know how it sounds. I have heard some real good things about the MB Quart Speakers...some guys use them in Car Audio competions (IASCA/USAC). I don't know enough about the other components to make a recommendation, but it sounds like you are on the right track...Good luck.

i use to have 2 Rockford Fosgate subs (not punch series) powered by a 1000w fosgate amp when i wanted SPL. Later i decided i wanted SQ and went to a single 10" infinity sub with a cheap pioneer amp. This setup gives me much better SQ with the stock speakers. I could and probably should upgrade my amp, but this works for now.

here is what will work you hook up the front speakers to the head unit the rear speakers you get like 6x9 or so and put an amp on those with a crossover and use that for mids then you should have the right balance of highs, mids, bass but you can also bridge some tweeters on the same amp you use for the mids and have a seperate amp for bass.

Use the overhead tweeters if your not already. They add great highs if you replace them with better ones and power them with clean power like A/D/S/ (BTW I have an A/D/S/ 625x PowerPlate 6ch. amp for sale!)
