bought another one...

well guys, some of you may remember me, and some may not. i had a TL a couple years ago and ended up replacing it with 323ci BMW.

i drove that for about 2 years and loved it but when the new BMW 335i came out, i knew i had to have one. so 6 months ago i sold my car and flew down to Virginia to buy my new toy...

chipped with a stage 3, dual intakes, and downpipes, right now i'm making around 375 rwhp. that's enough fun for me

however! i do live in Wisconsin and the winters here pretty much make me want to kill myself and the bimmer wouldn't make it through one day of snow. so i needed a winter car and after weeks of searching, i finally found what i was looking for.

all i can say is, i'm glad to be back to the TL and back to Acurazine!

actually, the outside of the TL has seen some better days. the sun and the white was kind of hiding it's blemishes in the photo.

there's a lot of little dents/scratches and rust spots on the body but the interior looks as if it's never even been sat in. i lucked out on that. however it does need some mechanical work. both front CV boots are torn and there's grease everywhere so those will need to be replaced asap. also, the power steering fluid looks like maple syrup so i'm going to have that flushed out at the dealership i work at.

it needs some work but i knew that going into it. but for 14 years old, i'm pretty happy with the condition.

As I was reading, I was thinking of what you're going to do when we get hit with 12" of snow Dec 1st.

Congrats on the find. You got it from Mcgrath in Chicago?

you know, i actually did drive my old bimmer in the snow the last 2 winters. i had some blizzaks on it and it performed pretty well but it just doesn't do justice to a front wheel drive with good tires.

i did get it from mcgrath. my time there was rather...eye opening to say the least...what a joke sales experience. very disappointed.

i'm trying not to spend money on it but i'm getting the itch to...heh.

the head unit is a horrible alpine POS, the speakers are the stock paper and torn, i hate the amber turn signals in front, i want the inspire tails, and it just wouldn't be my car if the windows weren't tinted.

i need a raise.

Man, that beemer is meaaan! I hope that I'll be able to get a fly car and keep the TL as a winter beater, since our winters are insane especially with all the salt they pour on the roads. How much did you fork out for the cars, if it's not a secret.

great. that's what happens when you leave your posts up at work and your technician is still in high school.

i'm actually using the TL as a daily driver and keeping the bimmer away till i want to have some fun or go to the track. originally i planned on driving it in just the winter but it's such a nice car that i don't mind driving it every day.

as far as the prices go, the bimmer was $29k and the TL was on the lot for $4995 and i ended up taking it for $3800. '96 3.2 with 117k on the odometer, heated seats/mirrors, traction control and some shitty alpine deck that the dealership tried to use as a selling point. wooo.

Damn that's pretty good. I can't believe you got the BMW for 29k up here it would cost closer to 50.

I have heard some pretty ridiculous stories about them. They are very aggressive in sales, they do sell quite a bit of cars. You wouldn't even see a TL like this on the lot at Acura of Brookfield

Where'd you buy the 3 series? Somewhere around Milwaukee?

When I worked for a car store, I had a lot of Canadian customers. Some would save a crazy amount of money by flying down and buying it from us.

Yeah that is the smart thing to do, but the Canadian gov't doesn't like it and they try to impose all sorts of ridiculous regulations in order to stop people from buying cars from the states. I know of someone who bought an almost brand new Altima a few years ago, but he couldn't drive it because of some stupidity.

I don't know why they have to impose these stupid technicalities. They tax people that bring cars over the border, why not let them? They are making money on it!

every time i've been to acura of brookefield, they are just packed with newer tl's and tsx's. as far as mcgrath goes, i only dealt with one salesman and it was terrible. i can't speak for the rest of the sales team but my experience wasn't a very good one. oh well, i had a good time playing mini golf on their indoor course.

i bought the 335 in richmond, virginia. i flew down there and then had the longest drive of my life back to green bay.

You live in Green Bay?

A buddy of mine and I one time rented an impala, drove to D.C. picked up a 00 Audi A6 4.2L, went to Philly for a day, to Jersey to buy a 2000 740i sport, Brooklyn for a night and then Monday morning drove both cars straight from Brooklyn to Milwaukee. I've never been so happy to see Chicago in my life.
