Better MPG's after Timing belt, water pump, belts and T-stat?

I have put 600 miles on since the timing belt was done. Same style of driving. 65-75mph 60% 40-55 mph 40%

I check my mileage at every fill and it has not seen over 23mpg's... 22.5 is the average.

Two tanks after the Bely Service were identical at 24.5 . I drive a lot, and a lot of the same, consistently, so I will keep checking at every fill up.

Any thoughts as to why it went up?

The plugs have 10k on them. I don't know that they adjusted anything.

Thermostat may have increased operating temperature which affects fuel consumption. Have you noticed the operating position of the temp gauge slightly higher.

It's also very easy to "fool yourself". When you have service and expect an improvement, you may unknowlingly but subtly change your driving habits and improve mileage.

That's about same as my 2.5 TL around town, but I rarely get more than 22-23. However, even here I will occasionally "spike up" to 24-25. I think this difference arises from difference in filling the tank, but may be self induced also.

regards

My last tank netted me 23.6 mpg, still higher than the highest tank before the belt job. I think the T-stat may be to thank, because my temp gauge is definitely different. My driving habits are exactly the same.
