Hey all, i have a 1998 Acura TL with the longitudinal 3.2 V6. Motor is seized best i can tell and so i'm going to swap it. Question is, what it the best way to do this? I have a lift so please consider that.
Is is easier to just pull the motor form the top? Pull the motor and transmission together from the top? OR drop the entire assembly on the sub frame from the bottom.
Again i have a lift so doing things from underneath is easy.
Any videos or other links appreciated on any approach.
Thanks in advance! :-)
if you have a lift, no need to pull engine from the top.......as it can come out the bottom....
unless you want to skip the subframe/wheel alignment, then just take it out the top.. and taking the lift out of the equation.
Since you have a lift, it's whatever is MORE convenient to YOU.
As a lift GIVES you more OPTIONS.
Do you have the TALL stands to take it out from the bottom? tranny and engine are heavy.
if you take it out from the top, do you have the engine hoist?
it's whatever is MORE convenient to you

Thanks for the reply. No idea which way is more convenient, that is why i'm asking, as in which way is the most straight forward. Maybe they are all hard or same level of issue?
Yes, i have all the needed tools to do it any of the three ways, I was just hoping to hear from someone who has done it or knows which way is the less difficult. For example, getting to the engine/transmission bolts is hard vs undoing drive shafts and sub frame bolts. I was hoping to chat with someone who has done it.
engine swap but transmission is leaking from engine side
Hello i pulled engine transmission
from bottom replaced with junkyard 3.2 runs and drives great just massive transmission oil leak from engine side of fly wheel anyone experience this?
its not a leak its a stream of fluid as the car idles. torque converter dry looks like its leaking from the oil pan but its tranny fluid anyone have any idea?
