Unhappy Another hit and run..

Well, I was so happy today that I got my car finally all put together the way I wanted it (lowered, type II IM and some other stuff). But it didn't last very long. This poor thing was sitting low and minding its own business while I was working when some jerkface massican dude side swiped while backing out of his parking space... There were like 15 people around when it happened but he decided to take off. Luckily Quik Stop where he was shopping at, they have cameras in parking lot so I got his licence plate from the video. A cop showed up just patrolling the area so talked to him about it, gave him his licence plate number and got the police report and the incident number right away. He went inside and looked at the video himself and talked to the cashier who happens to recognize the guy who hit my car. She said he is a regular customer and she will let him know. That cop even told her to tell the guy to call him and get it solved the civilized way or they gonna put some criminal charges on him and get him for hit and run.. As far as damage goes, headlight is gone, bumper is really loose feels like about to fall off from the passenger side.. some pics..

After work, just to get my self little cheered up we went racing... (not really, just driving down the road to get some food)

Shot Harry took with his phone..

That sucks. The bumper clips probably broke but you can easily get that fixed or even DIY.

Damage isn't that bad but it just pisses me off when I think about it or just look at at. I have spare set of JDM head lights but those are kinda faded and not so great looking. This set was clean and shiny. I am glad that he didn't hit anywhere else and cause any more damage..

Man that really blows, but you're lucky that you had witnesses, video surveillance footage, a cashier who knows the customer, and a cop who didn't act like a prick. The damage ain't that bad, and I'm pretty sure that this will be settled without too much trouble. Good luck with it man.

Sucky!!!

At least you have a spare. Get some polishing compound and a lot of elbow grease, you should be good to go.

Hope the culprit gets him time.

I tried wet sanding and buffing when I got them but it didn't do anything.
I am going to call insurance tomorrow and give them the info cop gave me and then I'll see where they take me from there.

Inspire headlights?

I doubt Insurance would be good since you probably have a $250+ deductible even on uninsured motorist coverage. I doubt new headlights would cost more than 250.

I wet sanded our civic headlights and it helped a lot. I started like 600 or 800 grit with a bucket of water so I could keep the light completely wet at all times without drying out at all. then moved to like 1K grit, then 1500 grit, then 2K grit. I spent like 10minutes plus on each step and longer on the final. then I used a rubbing compound followed by last step of a good wax. looked great compared to original and saved the lights.

there is a kit for $20 at autozone that uses a ball attachment for a drill that is basically a heavy compound to cut it.

Time for repairs..

I got some $$ from insurance and waiting for the rest. Time for new headlights. I am thinking these.
Or I have a set of Saber headlights which I can use. So I should save my money and use Saber headlights or buy Inspire lights? Opinions..

Get ceramic ones.

They are soooo worth the money IMO.

I have ceramic golds on my car and I love the braking power.

These are the pads that I got.

I got them from Autozone with a lifetime warranty. I replaced my brakes in August and when I changed the caliper on the front driver's side, I checked the pads and it doesn't even look like they were used.

My dad lives and swears buy gold ceramic pads. He has them on his Vette and that is all he used on ALL of his motorcycles.

get some cheapo rotors if you're gonna get type II brakes in the future. But again, I'd just do the type II and get it over with already. I remember on my Legend I halfassed the brakes for a while and it was pretty dangerous. brakefade when you're angry coming home during rush hour on the freeway isn't fun. Anyways, one day I just said forget it and bought nissin OEM replacement pads, nissin OEM shims, type II rotors, calipers, and brand new retainers and everything. Couldn't have been happier with my brakes at that point.

ballpark costs:

nissin pads: $50
shims: $18
retainers/ spring, etc: $30
type II calipers w/ brackets: $100
type II rotors (the second cheapest shit kragen oreilys carried): $55
amsoil high temp grease (for shits and giggles): $4

I got a quote from rotorpros for all four rotors (dimpled and slotted) and pads for $185 shipped and a quote for type II calipers from local part store was around $55 a piece..

I went to pick-n-pull in Newark and San Jose today morning. Didn't find anything there. Finally went to the local junk yard in Antioch and found the fender liner I was looking for. All that early morning drive to the pick-n-pull was just worthless....FAIL

All Legends there were non type II. One was in very good condition with almost everything in there, only few dash pieces missing..

oh.... yea shoulda told you. sac, rancho, and stockton ahve the best selection. stockton is the original pick n pull, so its super big and organized. sac has like 4 G1 TLs. and rancho is also pretty damn big and has a really good selection.

Unexpected happened today!!!

I got a call from the person who hit my car about an hour ago. He gave me his insurance info and I am going to call my insurance and his insurance tomorrow to see what they say and if I can get the rest of the money. He said he didn't know that he hit my car. He went to the Quik Stop today and they told him about it and he got my number from them. I hope it works out for me..

Inspire headlights seem possible now and so are type II brakes... Lets see what happens...

Yes. Brakes>Headlights. I am turning my current rotors today to make my brakes little better until I get/decide on the type II brakes or the TL brakes..

Funny thing is, I was kinda buzzed last night after having a few shots with a friend of mine. When they called I was like, what the hell are you talking about?? LoL..
